Default Suggestion For Arenanet to Bring in more fan base

I've never seen a commercial for guild wars, i've seen commercials for WoW and Guild Wars has won more awards then WoW will ever have...yet they have 1/4 less of a fan base... I'm not trying to give anet a suggestion to make more money but it seems like the game is more interesting when there's more people playing it, when the game first came out there would always be people in districts.... and there was a bunch of good players doing pvp, but more and more players quit by the day for other reasons then just boredum, yeah factions will bring back a lot of players but it won't bring all of them back I think with more people it could make things easier for everyone not only in pve by getting groups, but in pvp by getting groups as well.

"People like paying monthly fees for an inferior game with less than 80% uptime because they are stupid."

That should be the new slogan.

Do realize commercials cost A HELL of a lot of money. Blizzard can do this because the monthly fees support them 100x over. I mean, they do not have 100% uptime anyhow. They have server maintainence and such.

Plus, so many addicts on their game. Sure we have GW addicts... but people that play monthly subscription games are compelled to play because they will feel they aren't getting their money's worth.

I would suggest also means to increase profits, by including commercials ingame.

As it is for many sport grounds, where part of the economy relies on sponsors. For example, trade marks could be offered to sponsor ingame features, like merchants, auction house, storage, ... by allowing them to include ingame commercials.

This, too, might have the counter effect of the same trade marks starting to promote the game.

But, may be, if one game starts doing this succesfully many will follow.

I thought there were GW adverts... I mean, I kinda remember seeing one... this one time... like a year ago...

Yeah, they could do with a little more exposure. And it might help convince some of those disturbingly thickheaded WoW players who enjoy handing over money in exchange for waiting for the servers to be up...

Always reminds me of this one Dilbert cartoon... Dogbert digs a giant hole and charges companies to throw money down it. One CEO asks why that would help his company and Dogbert replies "It's a special kind of hole". Always makes me think of WoW.

Commercial at where? I think it is not very typcial for a mmo/online/pc only game to be advertise on regular TV spot (I am not sure about the gaming channel.. since I don't get it)

Commercial is good... but... it is what to adverstise about. To bring back more player, they really need to sell some sort of speacial feature of "same fun that you had, but now with more end-game content and less the farm!" And not just graphical enhancement or theme/skin change. Of couse, A.net also need to change and add much stuff to back up to that claim.

If they added a monthly fee you'd see half the fan base cut in half.

IF anet lost it's fan base it is because Anet did it to it self. I could give alist of reasons why but I am not. There is alot of things that GW lacks that wow has. I feel sony will be the one to really top the mmorpg market when it comes out. One does not have to go fare to see, The BIG DIFFERENCE between gw and wow.

All one has to do is talk to the fans. it really doesnot mean a thing with awards. Fans are going to like a certen thing or style no matter what pappers write or what ever company gives awards. The end of all say is the people who buy the game.

I have some of my own predictions of what will happen, but that I will keep to my self.

why do people compare GW to WoW. enough, WoW is not a better game IMO Dark Age of Camelot and Star Wars Galaxies are 10x better than WoW IMO anyways, sheesh

Everytime people compare the 2, it seems to make WoW stronger and GW weaker.

It really comes down to making money and keeping fans. It also comes down to what people want.

And then you randomly mentioned Sony and completely lost me.
Sony doesn't make any MMORPGs yet as far as I know (popular ones at least).

Sony: Everquest :P

ANyways..../not signed.

I think the best games dont need commercials, word of mouth works best (especially with the speed of the internet) for spreading news and hype about a game.

i think i rember a GW comercial way bak when it came out, but yeah, i hear the same thing over and over from my friend who is now a WoW addict....

blah-blah..bloodelves...blah-blah...lvl+20 ect...blah-blah..crafting....blah-blah WoW=good, GW=huh ect

the ony thing i agree with is the CRAFTING

if they added crafting in game by players not just armour and wepons from an NPC crafter, a whole lot of new players would be added.
and please, dont gimme that old line about 'no, it takes valuable time away fom our pvp worker base'

um, hello, people.....50% of the workers will be doing pvp, the other 50% will be doing pve and the ONLY times folks get drafted into one side or the other is when theres a deadline to beat and they need the extra help to finish intime lol.

i say that pvp is well catered for, ESPECIALY now that factions is prety much dealt with and ready to go live, so that leaves most of the workers free to do other stuff (baring the Update n Balance team, who are usually always going to be working on keeping the balance)
*above is specualtion, i have no knowledge of how the dev team ect operate, but that is how i assume they would work*

sony and x box want to get into the mmoprg market. They have taken rights from companies to make the games like DC comics and Marvel comics. I think sony wants to make DC online for example and X box wants to make marvel online.

Wait just a minute, Dreamhunk. Did you just call X-Box a company? Because in that case, I can no longer take what you're saying seriously. I'm sorry, I just can't. X-Box is a thing, man. It's like saying "Gamecube wants to make whatever game". Just doesn't work. You say, "Nintendo wants to make whatever game". Or in the case of X-Box titles, Microsoft wants to make ... ; but in any case X-Box games (like PS titles) are made by hundreds of different companies, unlike many games for Nintendo's platforms - although they're not as bad as they used to be.
